This could be a very naive question given how little I know about the topic but...

My friend asked me a question about effective EA charities that I thought was a good one, and after the bit of time I spent looking for answers, I couldn't find anything. Would be great if people had insight (either theoretical or data) on this question: 

Saving one life in a low income country will cause later suffering because that counterfactual life might have children who will live in an underdeveloped country and be poor/ at risk of disease.
