Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-profit organization that carries out research on poverty alleviation and development programs, and advocates for the use of this research in decision-making.
The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a close partner of IPA.
IPA was founded in 2011 by Dean Karlan, an American development economist.
In 2011, GiveWell rated IPA a standout charity.[1] As of July 2022, IPA has received over $3 million in funding from Effective Altruism Funds,[2][3][4][5] and $350,000 from Open Philanthropy,[6] and is also featured in The Life You Can Save's list of "best charities".[7]
