GiveWell is hiring for two positions. If you read the linked job postings, benefits overview, and our values, you'll get a good idea of what each role entails, and what it's like to work at GiveWell more broadly. I've added some additional commentary below; read this whole thing before you apply!
Credibility: I'm a recruiter at GiveWell.
Content Editors, $98k: This is an entry-level role at GiveWell. If you (1) can write clearly, (2) kind of enjoy poking around in spreadsheets, (3) appreciate open communication, (4) are looking or kinda sorta looking for a job, and (5) are interested in GiveWell's work, you should apply, regardless of your past experience. The application is based entirely on work tests, so we will not auto-deny your application if you don't have related experience. Seriously, I had zero experience in operations or recruiting before applying to GiveWell, and now I do both!
Senior Researchers, $209k: The job description says that Senior Researchers are the "intellectual leaders" at GiveWell, and we really mean that. Successful applicants to this role typically have some kind of quant academic background. If you're feeling like "I could do research, but idk if I could do SENIOR research," it's probably still worth applying — there's always a chance that we recommend you for a more junior research role if you do well on the work tests.
For both roles,
- the initial application is fairly low lift (though you should take it very seriously!)
- we will likely get back to you in two weeks for the Senior Researcher role, but potentially double that time for the Content Editor role*
- if you pass the initial work trial, you will be compensated for your time in later stages
Maybe you have questions? If so, hit me up! Just make sure you read all the public materials first.
Edit: If you apply because of this forum posting, please let us know in your application!
*subject to change if either application volume or other work burden unexpectedly increases.
