Sebastian Joy is a serial social entrepreneur focused on transforming the global food system. He's the Founding President of ProVeg International, the UN award-winning food awareness organization working to replace conventional animal products with plant-based and cultured alternatives. ProVeg was also (one of) the first EA organization gaining appoved as a International NGO in China. Sebastian is co-founder and former executive chair of the collective-impact organization 50by40, and co-creator of the ProVeg Incubator, the world’s first incubator focused exclusively on animal-free startups. He co-founded VeggieWorld, the world’s largest plant-based trade show as well as the Animal and Vegan Advocacy Summit. He serves as vice chair of the European Vegetarian Union, long-time investor in alternative protein startups and partner of the V-label Ltd. Sebastian holds degrees in Cognitive Science and Nonprofit Management. He has taught Social Entrepreneurship at the Berlin School of Economics and Law for six years and he still volunteers as a mentor at Charity Entrepreneurship. All his work is guided by effective altruism and he lives in Berlin with his wife Dr. Melanie Joy.
