Low effort post is low effort? I don't think the religion/cult analogy is worth much. At least from a personal perspective, there's a lot of things I'd rather be concerned over than AI risk (environmental degradation! international politics!), and - since the AI doom argument just makes sense to me - I don't get to spend much time worried about anything else. 

More than anything else, my emotional reaction these days is to be somewhat annoyed at the people driving things forward, since I just see it as a social coordination problem that we're not doing too well on at the moment.
