Fwiw, my impression is that within the EA community, endorsing a nonzero pure time preference is a minority reason why people don't agree with longtermism. Doubts about tractability seem much more important.

I am grateful  that I can increasingly find vegan foods at restaurants etc. I can't imagine how much harder it would have been to be vegan even 10 years ago.
