The Series:
This talk is part of the Charity Entrepreneurship Speaker Series at Effective Altruism Toronto, where we invite founders of some of the most cost effective charities on the planet to show us the how and why of their organizations so as to share their learning and their opportunities for action with the EA community. Our past talks have featured: Training for Good; Animal Advocacy Africa; High Impact Professionals; Family Empowerment Media, and; Fortify Health.
This Talk:
High Impact Professionals (HIP) was created to maximize the impact of EA working professionals. HIP helps to create and support communities of working professionals, connects professionals with outstanding opportunities to do good, and promotes EA programs in the workplace - currently focused on providing resources and support for running anyone to run a successful fundraising event in their workplace.
A few of the more recognizable workplace groups with an active EA organizer include Google, Amazon, NASA, McKinsey, Worldbank, and others. Current professional groups include Lawyers, Psychologists, Entrepreneurs, and those in Finance, Medicine, Supply Chain and Logistics, Physics, and others. However, there is no shortage of challenges in our world, and there is growing opportunity for many new groups and much more good to be done.
It is therefore our distinct pleasure to host Federico Speziali, co-founder of HIP, for a presentation on the how and why of HIP followed by a Q&A.
Welcomingness:
This event is open to all individuals engaging or seeking to engage with EA ideas or projects in their lives. There are no readings or other requirements for attendance. Federico is particularly excited to hear from working professionals or those considering organizing Workplace or Professional EA groups. Additionally, those who are interested in entrepreneurship, cost-effectiveness, EA in practice, or EA as a movement, can expect to get the most out of this event.
